What's Your Dangerous Idea?

"The history of science is replete with discoveries that were considered socially, morally, or emotionally dangerous in their time; the Copernican and Darwinian revolutions are the most obvious. What is your dangerous idea? An idea you think about (not necessarily one you originated) that is dangerous not because it is assumed to be false, but because it might be true?"

This is the question asked by Edge magazine to
"a "who's who" of third culture scientists and science-minded thinkers." The link to their responses is here.

Not that anyone actually reads this thing, but does anyone have any dangerous ideas of their own?

Greetings, Homme de Mer,

My dangerous idea revolves around the end of existence as we know it and the blissful entropy that would surely ensue, were John Urban and John Legend ever to go on tour together...

The Mighty Quinn

my idea has less to do with some complex scientific solution than it does with an overarching social one: no one in this land of plenty should be hungry.

no new energy source would be created, no crime would be averted, global warming will still loom. maybe.

but if there were young people who weren't so focused on their hunger, maybe they could focus on multiplication, which could spur them into an interest in physics, then maybe onto solving larger problems.

it would be a crazy rube goldberg machine that might actually solve something useful. . . .

hmmmmm.... I don't know. While impossible, I've always wanted to know what would happen if everyone would have to spend 1 year of their life living in different places. So, a month in Brazil, a month in Austrailia, a month in Germany, etc. You would not be allowed to join up with members of your own country, but would have to adjust yourself to the situation.

Also - the Mighty Quinn is mighty silly.
